Hello and welcome to the Qualitarian. My name is Peter and I’m a certified nutritionist and health consultant. I’m also training in Functional Medicine and Applied Quantum Biology. I dedicate my days towards learning the nuances of how the body works, sifting through research papers, and putting what I learn into practice.
From 2006 onwards, I thought I had health all figured out:
- Go to the gym regularly
- Eat calorie dense meals
- Get 7 - 8 hours of sleep
Easy peasy…right? Then I hit my 30’s. Health issues began appearing slowly, then all at once, like a tsunami wave:
- Digestion problems - frequent indigestion, gas, bloating, etc
- Finding it harder to fall asleep, eventually turning into insomnia
- Abnormally low energy levels throughout the day
- Extreme fatigue whenever exposed to the sun for more than ~5 to 10 minutes
- Low libido levels and erectile dysfunction
- Skin issues - dry skin, dandruff, rashes, eczema.
- Leaky gut
- Chronic lower back pain
At first I thought some of these were just unfamiliar signs of aging. I couldn’t have been more wrong.
The Journey Back to Health
There is no stronger motivation to learn the truth and heal oneself than when you’re sick and miserable. There were so many nutrition and lifestyle practises I was following, which were regularly promoted as “healthy”, that actually turned out to be harmful. My home was filled with everyday items that the average person wouldn’t even think twice on, yet they were toxic, gradually destroying my hormones, liver, gut, etc. I realised most health educators, doctors, dietitians, etc were simply regurgitating many of the same health advices, seeded by studies that often lacked nuances and critical thinking. Through trial and error, trying anything and everything, as I healed myself, I realised an important pattern… We are a part of nature. Our biology, the food ecosystem, our environment → the further we stray from nature (whether we realise it or not), the more sick we eventually become. I’d have never guessed these things were destroying my health:
- Working on the laptop/phone at night (circadian disruption, blue lights destroying eyes, skin, hormones)
- Using non-stick pans and plastic chopping boards (endocrine disruptors, destroying hormonal system)
- Eating out regularly (highly inflammatory seed/vegetable oils, destroying gut integrity)
- Eating loads of nuts, seeds, raw vegetables, juices (high in oxalates and other anti-nutrients, destroying the gut)
- And many more…
These things may seem normal and fine to most people, however they work completely against our biology and the way our bodies function. Years of habits like this compound and lead to health degeneration. The more in alignment with nature and our biology that we live, the healthier we become.
Health Education Is Broken
Did you know that most doctors have little to zero knowledge about nutrition, lifestyle and overall well-being? The curriculum to become a doctor barely touches upon or completely skips these topics. Prescribing medication? ✅ Performing surgery? ✅ Nutrition and lifestyle? ❌ That just seems absurd to me… The health and fitness industry is also plagued with misinformation and regurgitation of unhealthy health strategies, because nuances are missed.
Mission Statement
My mission with this website is to simplify health optimisation, presenting it in a practical way that’s accessible to the average person, without unnecessary scientific jargon and overcomplicated explanations.
Nature doesn’t make mistakes. Humans do.
